Yay! They reissued Vampyros Lesbos Sexadelic Dance Party on CD and Double LP - with bonus tracks!

What can we say about this CD that hasn't already been said? This is the absolutely bloody brilliant Vampyros Lesbos Sexadelic Dance Party - the superb collection of groovy-as-f**k tunes taken from three classic Jess Franco horrotica movies; Vampyros Lesbos (1971 - AKA Lesbian Vampires, Las Vampiras, The Heiress of Dracula), She Killed in Ecstasy (1971 - AKA Sie tötete in Ekstase) and Teufel kam aus Akasava (1971 - AKA The Devil Came from Akasava).

These great Franco movies all have 4 things in common; 1) They're from the genuis/hack director Jess Franco, 2) They all star the late (and quite delicious) Soledad Miranda 3) They all have great storylines (sexy vampiress seduces and kills women to appease her thirst for female blood, widow of driven-to-suicide doctor takes revenge and kills those responsible and mineral discovered which turns humans into zombies) and, finally, 4) they all have some of the grooviest, wildest and sleaziest soundtracks ever composed.

OK, so you can tell that we love like this. If you own this already then you'll know why we're so crazy about it. For those of you yet to own this we have once piece of advice; buy it now. Buy it now. Wait at the door religiously until it arrives. Once it does, switch all your light-bulbs to red ones. Invite some friends round - ensure a good mix of lascivious women and groovy gents. Get loaded on blood coloured cocktails and moroccan kif and play this CD loud. One of the best nights we ever had.

Jess Franco (1930 - )

Legendary director of predominantly sex-and-horror-based material, Spanish-born Jesus Franco has nearly 200 directing credits to his name, and still turns out a couple of films a year. Trained initially as a musician before studying film at the Sorbonne in Paris, Franco began directing in the late 50s. By using the same actors, sets and locations on many films, Franco has maintained an astonishing workrate, and while the quality of his work has sometimes suffered because of this, films such as Virgin Amongst the Living dead, Eugenie, Succubus and She Killed in Ecstacy remain distinctive slices of 60s/70s art-trash.

Most of his films have been released in multiple versions with wildly differing titles, while Franco himself has directed under a bewildering number of pseudonyms. Actors who have regularly appeared in his films include Klaus Kinski, Christopher Lee and wife Lina Romay; fans should also look out for his name on the credits of Orson Welles' Chimes of Midnight, on which he worked as assistant director.
